The Foragers microbrewery continues the Foragers’ commitment to all things wild, fresh and local. It’s become very fashionable among microbreweries to emphasise the strong flavours of imported American hops. While we’re not averse to the occassional bag of Columbus, Chinook or Cascade, it’s not what we’re interested in. Our beers have one foot in history and the other in the hedgerow. Our first two beers were an Oktoberfest beer brewed with wild hops, and a Medieval Gruit ale brewed with wild yarrow and mugwort.
Starting in February 2015, we will be developing a core line-up of four beers which will be available all year round. Rather than producing seasonal one-off brews, we will perfect the base recipes of these four beers and simply add different wild ingredients throughout the year. So, you could order a stout in Spring flavoured with wild mint, then come back in Autumn and find the same beer now flavoured with toasted hazelnuts.
Details of each beer as it is released will be posted on our blog.
We also offer a bespoke beer package – join us for a brewery tour & tasting where you pick exactly what kind of beer you’d like us to brew for you. Perfect for weddings. Beer tasting with the stags, cask tapping at the reception… Call the pub and ask for head brewer Richard if you’re interested!
